The Most Beautiful Jumpsuit In The World

mainpic2 Attention! Attention! This beautiful jumpsuit comes with a fantastic story and I’m excited to share it with you. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Lucy and Lydia’s YouTube page for the first time. I’m a huge fan of British YouTubers so I was surprised to learn there were a pair of adorable twins I had not heard about. Anyways, I was watching their Disney World vlog because I’m obsessed with Disney World and I noticed a very appealing pattern on an article of clothing. I stalked every inch of their social media pages until I found a lookbook video they did featuring the jumpsuit. It was a Black Floral Printed Jumpsuit from River Island. I had to have it. After researching though, I was horrified to learn it was no longer available. So I check Depop. Nothing. Then I moved to eBay. One seller had the exact jumpsuit I wanted in my size for $40 cheaper than it originally was on sale for. I immediately purchased it and am now blessed with this amazing jumpsuit. Now, I realize this post might seem a bit braggy because this jumpsuit is no longer available. And I have to be honest, I am bragging a little bit because I love this jumpsuit so much. BUT I have provided you with a few alternatives that are currently available for purchase. Pieces like this are absolutely perfect for the spring time! The best thing about them is they are so convenient for lazy girls like me. Pop one of these babies on and you are good to go. Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 7.41.12 PM Satin Floral Jumpsuit from Forever 21 – This jumpsuit is so similar! What I love about the one that I have is the synched pant leg and the black background which really brings out the floral print. This jumpsuit has both of those aspects and is super affordable. I love the colors in this floral print though and the thin straps. Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 7.40.53 PM Blurred Floral Cami Jumpsuit from Forever 21 –  This jumpsuit features the same synched leg as the one I have, but is so much more bright and girly. I could wear this on a cool summer day because the colors are so summery. This one speaks for itself and would barely need any accessories. Missguided-Keiko-Floral-Jumpsuit Keiko Floral Print Jumpsuit from Missguided – This one is definitely classier than the others. I’m not sure if I would wear the others (including mine) to work, but I would certainly rock this baby in an office setting. Especially with the cute belt modeled in this picture. All of these alternatives to the most beautiful jumpsuit in the world are incredibly well priced and are making me consider purchasing another one for myself. If these jumpsuits aren’t quite your style, hopefully they give you some inspiration for some of the beautiful spring clothing that is available now 🙂 Do you have a favorite piece of clothing?

April Look Forward Tos

Everyone posts monthly favorites, including myself. I really enjoy reading people’s monthly favorites to get inspiration and discover new things and I enjoy writing my favorites because it allows me to sum up my month in a short little list that makes me feel like I accomplished something and didn’t just watch Netflix for 4 weeks straight.

So I thought it would be fun to start an ongoing kind of prediction, goal setting post called “Monthly Look Forward Tos.” Whether it be an event in the upcoming month, a product that I really want to try, or a goal I want to set for myself. I want to document all of that stuff in this post. Here are my April Look Forward Tos:

1. Game of Thrones – Game of Thrones is no joke in my household. We take it very seriously. The premiere is April 12th which is only 10 days away!!!!!! Last year, as you can see in the picture above, we did it pretty big. We bought plastic, styrofoam swords. We went to Joann’s Fabrics and purchased some black fur. I put my hair in little braids and my father wore a crown. We were basically House Stark. This year we will try to top ourselves. Our goal is to complete this wonderful work of art. Either way, I am so excited.

2. 29th Annual Annapolis Cup Croquet Competition – This event is something I have never been to, but I am insanely excited for. This event, besides the Kentucky Derby probably, combines everything I love about spring. Warm weather, sun dresses, a cold glass of white wine, and men in uniform. I don’t know why I’ve never been before…

3. Treat Yo Self – The official “Treat Yo Self” day is in October, but I have decided that I will be participating in this joyous occasion in the month of April. Sometimes you just need to spend money on things to make yourself feel better and I have a feeling that with finals and projects and papers coming up, I am going to need a “Treat Yo Self” day desperately at some point this month. I’m already looking forward to it.

4. Fishing – My family just purchased a boat to have at our shore house and I can’t wait to go on it for the first time this season. I didn’t always enjoy fishing growing up. Probably because my dad would drag me out of bed at the crack of dawn to sit in a freezing cold boat only to catch nothing. But now I have learned to appreciate the hobby and how relaxing it is. The picture above is me last summer holding the only thing we caught that day. I think it is a sea cucumber. Sorry Kevin (SpongeBob reference).

5. Make more of an effort to do things – This might seem weird to some people, but being in college has sort of made me a boring person. I feel like I am so consumed with my grades and going to class that I never really want to socialize with my friends at the end of the day. Being a commuter student also contributes to that attitude. I drive 45 minutes to school and back and it really exhausts me. This month, I will try my best to accept every social offer I get and make an effort to do things I wouldn’t normally do on a weekday.

What are you looking forward to in the month of April?

Bye for now!

Liebster Award Nomination

Thank you so much to cuteandconfident for nominating me for a Liebster Award! I haven’t been blogging long, but I know this award is awesome and I’m really excited to be nominated. Alyssa gave me some pretty tough questions, so I will try my best to answer them truthfully.

1. Where is one place you want to travel in the world? Why? Galway, Ireland. I studied abroad there last summer and absolutely fell in love with the town and the country of Ireland. If I could travel anywhere in the world right this moment, it would be back to Galway to walk down Shop Street one more time.

2. Heels, Boots or Flats? Probably boots because I can wear boots in every season. I would like to say flats, but every time I wear them my feet smell (don’t pretend yours don’t).

3. Favorite blog post you’ve ever done? I really enjoyed the March Favorites post because I love everything featured in that post so it was just really fun to write about. Also, it was the first time I was able to use my DSLR camera, which I think really makes a difference.

4. Who’s your celebrity crush? – I mean.

5. What is your most embarrassing moment? Oh god I have so many. One in particular that stands out is the time a pair of underwear fell out of my shorts at a party because I had just grabbed the shorts out of the dryer…

6. All-time favorite book? Bossypants by Tina Fey. She is my role model as a woman, writer, creator, comedian, and human being. She is also my cat’s namesake. This book is perfection.

“If you retain nothing else, always remember the most important Rule of Beauty. Who cares?”

7. Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate flavored candy, vanilla flavored ice cream. Hershey’s Kisses are my guilty pleasure treat. Every member of my family knows this and I always get at least two bags for each holiday.

I nominate weardaisywent, mascara on the run, TAYLORED, all these little things, and Peppermint Girl

Here are your questions:

1. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

2. Which three novels would you recommend to everybody you meet because you couldn’t put them down?

3. If you could pick one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

4. If you could have lunch with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

5. Dogs or cats?

6. What is one thing that you can’t leave the house without?

7. What is one goal you have for the future?

Thank you so much again for this nomination. I feel like I just started this blog and already I am enjoying it so much. Thanks everyone for reading!! 🙂

Bye for now!

March Favorites

march favs

It was 30 degrees and snowing on Sunday and now it is April. I’m so confused but also incredibly excited for consistent warm weather. March has been an insane month and now that it is over I am one step closer to graduating college. What? Crazy. Here are some of the many things that have helped me over my academic and emotional hurdles in the month of March.

1. Venti Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiato – A couple of weeks ago it was 60 degrees and I almost immediately went to Starbucks and ordered this iced beverage. Then a few days later the temperature dropped and it was freezing again. But, it was too late. I had already made the iced coffee commitment. This drink will be my go-to Starbucks order until the end of the summer.

2. I Feel Bad About My Neck by Nora Ephron – I read this book twice in the month of March. Twice. I have been a fan of Nora Ephron’s films for a while now, but it was only recently that I discovered her prose. There was a point where I watched When Harry Met Sally every day for about two weeks. Every line in that movie is pure gold and watching it, or just listening to it, puts me in a wonderful mood. Nora Ephron also wrote some of my other favorites; You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, This Is My Life. I think they are all amazing. So finally I read I Feel Bad About My Neck and obviously loved every line. Her writing is so smart, so funny, and so relatable even though she wrote this collection of essays in her 60’s and I am only 21. I would recommend this book to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

3. John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz Immunity Primer – I have frizzy, curly hair. And to be honest, I still am not sure how to manage it. Sometimes I have good hair days and sometimes I have bad hair days. The common variable of my good hair days seems to be this product. I’m not really sure what it does for my hair specifically, but I know when I use it my hair looks less frizzy. *thumbs up emoji*

4. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Instanbul – Yay for spring and bright pink lip colors! This product is basically a lip gloss, lip stick, and a lip stain all in one. You can’t beat that.

5. L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Pro Extra Volume Collagen Hydra Collagen Plumping Mascara – My eyelashes are naturally super long. I have never used fake eyelashes and I probably never will. My long eyelashes are kind of hard to manage sometimes though because they clump really easily. I go through mascaras like it is my job. This L’Oreal mascara is my favorite one I’ve tried so far!

6. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – I’m late to jump on the beauty blender bandwagon. And now that I caved, I understand the hype. My foundation blends perfectly using this sponge and I’m mad at myself for not getting one of these sooner.

7. Joni jeans – There are not a lot of Topshop locations in America yet, let alone in Maryland. Luckily, there is a location an hour away in Washington, D.C and I occasionally am able to make the trip. I have heard about Topshop’s jeans for a few months but haven’t been able to visit the store to try them on (I can’t buy jeans without trying them on because jeans are always weird on me). Anyways, I finally was able to try them on and they are amazing obviously. So stretchy and beautifully high-waisted. And on sale. Thank you Topshop for making amazing jeans.

8. Dr. Martens – These shoes have been sitting in my closet since Christmas because I have been scared to wear them. I saw them in my closet every day and really wanted to wear them, but I knew they would be a bitch to break in. Finally, I took the plunge and am really glad I did. They aren’t broken in yet, but they don’t hurt to wear and they look amazing on. Pair these with knee-high socks and a jersey dress and you are good to go.

9. Smile by Mikko Ekko – Yes, I first heard this song when watching the Paper Towns trailer. BUT it is an amazing song on its own. Not only does it perfectly capture the essence of the John Green novel, it perfectly captures the essence of me right now. Does that make sense? I’m about to graduate college and I have no idea what I want to do with my life and this song gets me.

10. Parks and Recreation – Am I the only person who watches shows on Netflix over and over and over again? Probably not. But I may be the only person who watches shows over and over again as much as I do. Every month I have a go-to show that is pretty much always on my television. This month it has been Parks and Recreation. It is such an easy show to watch I can put it on in the background when I’m working on homework or writing blog posts. But it is also the perfect show to put on when I’m in a bad mood and need a little pick me up. Thanks Parks and Rec, new episodes will be missed.

11. My cat – Shout out to Liz Lemon who is the cutest cat ever.

What things have you been loving this month?

Bye for now!

Sunday Morning Shenanigans

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

Happy Sunday everyone! I have a love-hate relationship with Sunday because on one hand it is way too close to Monday and that depresses me. On the other hand, I always end up having wonderful weekend adventures on Sundays and this week was no exception.

My dad and I love going yard sale-ing. This hobby stemmed from my long time love of thrifting. I shared some of my awesome clothing finds with my dad, who then suggested we check out some local yard sales. We haven’t looked back since.

Our collection of secondhand items ranges from vintage t-shirts, original works of art, and old books that my dad actually thinks are worth something. We have good days and bad days. Today, we stopped by one yard sale and unfortunately had a bad day. All we found was this Looney Tunes mug (which I think is awesome btw).

After yard sale-ing we stopped by our favorite Irish pub, Fado in downtown Annapolis, to watch the Brazil v. Chile soccer game. I ordered a refreshing Harp and the Fado Benedict which substituted Canadian bacon for Irish rashers and added spinach. The entire plate was consumed in probably under 10 minutes because it was so delicious.

When Saturdays go by fast I think to myself, “It’s okay because we have all day tomorrow to do things.” When Sundays go by fast I think to myself, “How can this be possible? I was just thinking yesterday how we had so much more of the weekend to do things.”

Oh well. Until next weekend…

An Ode To My Bathtub

Bubbles, candles, face masks, a great book, and a large glass of Pinot Grigio. The perfect ingredients for a wonderful pamper evening.

This week has already been extremely stressful. I had to complete a giant, 30 page paper and a presentation by today. So last night I gave myself a little break and had a pamper evening. I have pamper evenings AT LEAST once a week. Sometimes I have them twice a week. Sometimes I have pamper days which fall on Monday afternoons because I don’t have class and, I mean, why not cure a case of the Mondays with a bath and a facial?

A bonus to my pamper sessions is my bathtub. I lived in a small apartment for a few years to be closer to my college campus, and that apartment had a terrible bathtub. It was very narrow and attached to a shower which does not result in a great bathtub experience. The bathtub at my parents’ house, where I currently live, however is amazing. It is huge and relaxing and full of memories.

A quick story that involves my bathtub:

About 10 years ago, my brother had a pet snake (I know). He was 10 years old when he got the snake and he loved it so much. One day, we noticed that the snake was not in its cage. Chaos. There was a snake loose in my house. We looked everywhere for hours but couldn’t find him. My brother was weeping, so my mom suggested he take a bath to calm down. After approximately 5 minutes in the bath a loud boyish scream came from the bathroom. We ran in to find my brother, naked in the bath, holding his snake who was half way out of the bath tub side drain water-stopper. Needless to say I didn’t take another bath for a very long time.

Anyways, here are the products and items I absolutely cannot pamper without.

1. CALGON, take me away! Skin Silkening Bubble Bath and Lavender & Honey Epsom Salt

These have been my go-to bath products for a long time now. Available at Target and I’m sure other places, you can pick up both of these items for under 8 dollars! That giant bottle of bubble bath is a bargain for only 3 dollars; I always buy at least two bottles when I am making a Target run. Unfortunately, the bubble bath doesn’t last long. Maybe I just use a lot of it for one bath because I like a lot of bubbles but it usually only lasts me 3-4 baths then I have to restock. The epsom salt is something I don’t quite understand to be honest. It claims to “sooth aches and pains” and I’m not sure about that. However, I really enjoy the lavender and honey scent so I will continue to use it.

2. Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask and Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel-Away Clay Mask, LUSH Bunch of Carrots Bubble Bar

Now, obviously I didn’t use two masks at the same time. BUT I really wanted to share both of these masks with you because I think they are equally amazing. Each mask is gentle enough for my sensitive, pale skin which is extremely important. The Charcoal & Black Sugar is more my kind of mask; it hardens and extracts all the dirt from my pores, then leaves my face feeling so nice and smooth. The Sweet Tea & Lemon mask is different, but leaves my face the same silky smooth. I only used it in my T-zone areas and it worked wonders. I don’t really like the peel-away aspect of it though. It was super easy to peel off and didn’t hurt at all (like some people claim it does) but I’m more of a wipe away kind of girl. Oh and both scents are amazing.

The LUSH bubble bars kind of annoy me. When I’m preparing my bath, I don’t want to stand hunched over the faucet waiting for bubbles to form, which is required of LUSH bubble bars. I much prefer the bath bombs which you can just plop in and you’re good to go. This bunch of carrots is cute though and smells great so I ran it under the water for a few seconds to turn my bath just the right amount of orange.

3. Paper Towns by John Green and a glass of Pinot Grigio

I know I’m a little behind, but I am really enjoying Paper Towns (don’t tell me what happens). Also, you will learn over the course of this blog that my go-to alcoholic beverage is Pinot Grigio. Not pictured is a bottle of cold water that I like to have with me when I’m taking a bath because sometimes wine does not quench my thirst. Who am I kidding? It does most of the time, but I feel like a better person when I have a bottle of water next to me.

What are your favorite pamper evening products?

Bye for now!

What A Great Start To A Job Search

Recently, I submitted my résumé to some awesome companies in an effort to get hired before I graduate to avoid ultimately falling into a deep abyss of searching endlessly for jobs and not being hired by anyone. My résumé was looking spectacular because I purchased a beautiful, new template from ShineGraphics on Etsy. One of the reasons I love my major is the fact that I can add a little appropriate color to spice up my work history.

I reread and reread that document what felt like 100 times and confidently submitted it to some advertising agencies I would kill to work for. Unfortunately, the next day I realized that instead of the work “Graduate” I typed “Graduation.” So my résumé read, “Ambitious and hard working graduation seeks full-time job.”

I wanted to crawl into a hole and cover myself in a million emojis of the monkey with his hands over his eyes. How embarrassing. The first thing that the hiring manager saw when he/she opened my gorgeous PDF résumé was a typo that made me look like an idiot.

Moral of the story: have a friend, family member, or significant other read through your résumé before you hit send. I know I will next time. And companies if you are reading this right now: I am deeply sorry for the typo. Please hire me.

Bye for now!
